Every day on the Long Island Rail Road on my commute to NYC I have noticed a red Ferrari sitting in what looks to be an abandoned mechanic shop back lot. The train doesn’t stop at this station, but I plan to drive there this week to see exactly what this car is. For the time being, I took a short video and screenshotted the least potato-esque shot I could to find the curves on this beauty.
After consulting with some gearhead friends, and comparing what I’ve seen to images online, I THINK I found a 250 GTO sitting in a lot gathering dust, or at least being stored for a lengthy amount of time.
Oppo, please help me figure out if it is a 250 GTO.

It certainly looks like a 250GTO, but I can promise you it’s not a real one.

Well damn. You might be right. It appears to have the same two slanted vents in front of hte door, the smaller vent behind the door, and the round-ish vent behind the rear wheels.
I bet it’s a kit though.

My first thought is some Japanese classic, like a Toyota 2000GT or something. I’m likely wrong, though.

I think all the 250 GTOs are accounted for. Could be wrong, though.

It’s actually an older version of the Suzuki Every Joy Pop Turbo

Definitely not a 2000GT, rear quarter window doesn’t match up:
Although it would be nearly as unlikely to find an original one standing out in the woods as it would a 250 GTO.

That's what I thought too. Damn good looking kit though. I plan on getting better pics soon.

Another vote for a kit car. It seems like the right lines, but it’s very VERY unlikely that one of the 39 produced would be standing around in the woods.

That’s what they say about all barn finds.

Stop on the side of the road and take better pictures. If it is really a GTO then sacrificing your life might be worth it

Very true. Not saying I wouldn’t love it to be real. Just using Ockhams razor here.

Well shit...
There’s no way the most expensive car in the world is sitting around in some random field, so it’s gotta be a 250 GTO kit.

I’m going with a Datsun Z kit car to look like Ferreri, those rear haunches are very z like as is the side glass.

I know they used to make kits for 240Z’s, maybe that's what this is

The shape and the position of the side window looks off, and all 39 250 GTO are accounted for. 2 of them live near New York, so it could be possible!

The shop services Italian exotics it says.

It looks to be a Z based replica as seen here
The shape of the door windows doesn’t look right when compared to an original as seen below

Why would it be at an Italian car shop then?

Well Z, because the 250s are all well documented.

Because they really wanted one but could never get one. Especially with this model, the odds that it’s a real one is pretty remote, like he said, there are two in NY and you think they take it there? Anyone who owns one of these has a mechanic. There is actually one of these a few minutes from me, a rich friend of the family has a car collection and a maintenance building that they rotate through. His name is Tom Price, you can look up his cars, he actually grew up with my mom and ended up owning a metric fuck ton of dealerships for years. Here he is, he is a mainstay at Monterey events:

Craig’s list strikes again.
“The fuck do you mean it’s a z car? I got a deal on it because the ac needed a recharge!”

Must be some kind of kit car. IIRC all 39 were built are accounted for.

It’s possible, I think the only solution here is for you to get closer and report back, I’m very intrigued.

It does say on the website that they worked on a 250 GTO. 4 of them live in New York, one is silver/blue, another is Ralph Lauren’s so I doubt it would have been gathering dust, and the other two are this one which was crashed in ‘63 (then repaired):
and this one, which is a later body style (and gorgeous):
